Defensive Lineman Chigbo Anunoby is a complete team player measured 6-foot-5, and weighs 324 pounds. Why has Chigbo being labeled a Jewel? He thrives off of blowing up the center of any offensive line making way for linebackers to roam freely and make a lot of tackles. Chigbo is the ultimate run stopper and has his way with the double team which makes him a huge impact in a football game and a valuable asset to any NFL team defensive interior. He is a penetrating defensive tackle and an unmovable nose guard.

Chigbo Anunoby is a defensive lineman who can play defensive tackle as well as control the center of the field at the nose guard position. His comparison to Carolina Panthers 2011 rookie DL Sione Fua who went high in the NFL Draft in the 3^rd round and number 97^th overall to help reconstruct the Carolina Panthers’ defense. Chigbo is 4 inches taller than him at a whopping 6-foot-5 and weigh in heavier than him at an astounding 324 pounds as well as faster than him. And with the impressive frame to absorb the double team, Chigbo is overwhelmingly stronger than him on the 225 bench press and as for vertical, can 360 dunk on an official NBA basketball goal which makes for a well oiled machine lasting four quarters. DL Chigbo Anunoby is a jewel. He has been labeled a jewel not just because of all of the many contributions he brings to the field but his character on as well as off the field. He has a great work ethic, listen, coachable, and always searching for that next level in bettering his skills by taking his future in his own hands and acquiring a personal trainer outside of school that helped him double his strength and increases his speed. Set time aside to mentor younger kids within the program helping them to see it is not what you do in front of others that make you better but what you do on your own that separate you from the pack. Sad to have to point out but good to be able to say about Chigbo Anunoby, he comes with “NO” off the field issues, attitudes or disciplinary problems, he is just a jewel, a diamond in a rut and with the right coaching will be an excellent addiction to the league for years to come.

He aslo received honors as well as Atlethic awards. MY cheeks hurt from all the smiling and his dad hands are sore from all the applauding. :-) A glorious moment for any parent....HATS OFF TO YOU CORY T. PHILLIPS!!!!"

Patrice L Coleman I love the blog! Thank u so much because um trying to find him a sponsor or scholarship to go to an academy for high school (whose financial aid deadline past, they dont let the public schools know this info, so I missed it). He has the academics; we just need the cash. Ive been working overtime at this cause school starts Aug. Any suggestions. I really dont want him in the high school in our district...he wont get challenged."

     Through my mentorship program I found great pride in acknowledging kids my program made a difference in. But since the meeting of a young man name Joel and his father I found something that must be noted and that is great parenting. Father Mitch and mother Patrice Coleman (The Colemans) from Rolling Fork, Mississippi, has made an effort to parent and prove that parenting is not a myth when done properly and effectively it actually works. It is easy to work hard at one particular element within your life. However for a kid is highly unlikely for them the be a great athlete at such a young age and still maintain the discipline, maturity, and professionalism level to also be academically inclined as well. Cory T. Phillips, an 8th grader like no other.


I hate to know something and see kids that are not trying to get their work done or not trying to work out hard because I know that if they work harder now once they are older they will not have to work as hard as other kids once they get older. This mindset has been instilled in Cory since birth and passed down to his two younger brothers Jekobe and Jaylan Coleman.

Cannot wait to see the impact Cory Phillips has on the sports world in Atlanta, Georgia once he enters high school and what lucky D1 COLLEGE will be blessed with his academic and athletic talents.

I was blessed to be requested to assist with Georgia Favor Track Club and their track this past Saturday May 14, 2011. I must say it was a huge success. And it was nice to see parents encouraging their kids to win and lifting their kids’ spirits when they do not. I did not have this support when I was growing up and because of that I know firsthand what it means to a kid to have the same hand that feeds them, to be the same hand that chastises them, mirror the hand that supports them.


“It takes a village”. I am a firm believer in it takes a village to raise a child and in today’s society that village is our community. Through our strong faith, academics, and sports, we can live much healthier lives not depending upon handouts and mental shackles.

Sports with parenting can do that. In sports you will work hard to accomplish your goal “The Gold” and sometime not achieve it. Good parenting will keep our kid focus so they will know that this is not the time to quit but the time to work even harder now so you will have an even better chance of obtaining that goal. If you can honestly walk away from a race knowing you “ran through the finish line” giving it your all, you can comfortably do the same with your daily tasks in your life.

GOD, parents, academics, and sports; together strengthen our youth for a better tomorrow, stronger family, and cleaner community free of drugs, violence and quitters.
